In the street.

Last night I got off work and made it home at a time that meant the ‘weekly happy hour’ that lasts all evening was still going on so I had to go be neighborly. To top that off, this weekend I've got a 'birthday' to attend and it’s time to seal the pipestem so that means more time with the neighbors. It's a social weekend I guess.

Community X3

Wow, tonight was a special treat in that NBC gave us three brand new episodes of Community. Even better, the first one had a unique theme; video games. The majority of the episode took place within a video game and they were represented by 8bit avatars, much like the Code Monkeys cartoon. It was really well done, funny, and a departure from the norm. Then in the next two episodes they finished up the season with some funny and nailed it. I sincerely hope it’s enough to get them back next year.

Tower to the Sky

Minecraft came out on the Xbox 360 finally and I have to say they nailed it. The PC game was an indie run-away success and now it seems like it’s poised to do the same on a console. The controls fit flawlessly and you can find yourself lost in its charm. The first time me and my Brother played, he had his daughters on and we ended up realizing that it was almost midnight in no time. We’ve built up so many cool things in the game and really have only touched the surface. The only complaint? You can’t work on a ‘shared’ world so that regardless of who is on, you can continue working on their world. Maybe in an update? Regardless it is worth the download.

America's Got Talent

With the Fall season winding down it means that America’s Got Talent returns to help combat the Summer doldrums. This season the angry brit gets replaced with the king of all media, Howard Stern. So far I have to say it’s a good choice as he is very personable even when he’s being mean. Plus the sheer uniqueness of some of the acts is brilliant. The guy who played a harp that stretched the length of the theatre was fantastic. I know it’s not Shakespeare or even Sorkin, but it’s a guilty pleasure and I can’t wait to see who makes it.

It's a start

Another work week has begun and it looks to be a good one. A deployment for both games and plenty of stuff to get done. But honestly, that’s boring to talk about. Instead in honor of How I Met Your Mother’s excellent season finale, I wanted to mention that I really enjoyed seeing the actress that plays Robin on that show as a key role in the Avengers movie. One that if you use the comics as a guide means she’ll be back in future films and given the way she pulled it off, I’m betting she will be.
